Creating heavy doll

Posted by bayan

There is few projects that I have to carry with at the same time, it makes me a bit confused,
and doesn't leave enough time for writing .

The painted lady is yet waiting, she will have to wait longer to her clothes.
Here is one of the most chalenging customized doll that I have recieved:

It should be a baby in natural size and weight .
The marbles is for the weight, I inserted them into a fabric tubes.

Then scrolled it according the draw.

I glued and sewed all of the scroll and tube together in order to get heavy construction.

The next step was covering the construction with foam, Acrilan and fabric.
He is 60cm and 3.80 kilograms.
Hopefully he will be done tomorrow, Then I have to make a grown up brother for him.
Which is going to be 9.5 kilos.

Redhead

Here he is the crochet redhead guy.
You can see how he was at the beginning-Here.
I always obsessed with the garments and accessories of my dolls.
Sometimes I make them before the face his completed.
Most of the time I have some unfocused image of the doll I want to create.
It's include some of the colors, materials and something about the type of personality,
not definitely clear.
When I styling them during the crochet work I began to learn what kind of person each doll is going to look like.
That's help me to create the face mainly the eyes which make the doll expression and character more clear.
It’s seems to me that each of my crochet doll got unique body language of his own.
I can notice that only when I look at the photos.
I don't know someone who looks exactly like this one but I can think about few that there is someone from them at this crochet guy.

The painted cloth doll is coming soon.

*The redhead guy is available at my etsy store which finally online again.

Dolls in progress

Posted by bayan

I am making two new dolls at the moment.

The crochet red hair guy.
He will get crochet sculptured face,
I make it’s face by extra crochet sheets that I sew to his head.
I crochet them that they will fit in size and form to the place it should be sewn in but make it a bit wider.
Then when I sew it I fold the extra inside between the head and the new sheet in order to get the sculptured look.
for the nose I use a folded sheet.
Sometimes I have to keep on crocheting on the extra sheets to emphasize some facial features.

My crochet dolls are always created by free form crochet.
For the cloth doll I need patterns, most of my patterns were developed by free modeling fabric on a foam models or crochet doll.
I created this pattern from a sketch.
I know how she is going to look like and had only to draw it’s proportions.
(like my cloth dolls but smaller).
This is the first time that I use acrylic colors to paint the face and body.
I am going to use the paint as a base to embroidery.
I will post continue soon...........

Crochet creatures friends

Posted by bayan

I made new members at the family of crochet creature. I made few last year, and I had only the big one left with me. They all have some wintery mood and since it's was began to rain this week I feel that the biggest creature is miss some creatury company.

First I made the Lady cat. It began with two tiny white crochet sheets that were left useless at my desk. I sew them together and then I got something that look like amorphous cat head and neck, so I continued with the crochet needle to make body and legs. Since it was cold morning I didn't want to left her naked, besides that she was too white and I didn't could get dirty if she would go to play outside, so I crocheted a jacket too.

when the jacket was done it was clear that fancy cat like her need some fancy string.

And some little friend.

So they could play together inside.

*(I listed the new creatures at ebay auctiouns this time)

Sketches and dolls thoughts

My three new brooches are done,
I hang them near my new sketches.
I yet don't know for what I am going to use them.
When I feel too confused I make a decision to sit down and make sketches for new projects,
most of the times the ideas that I have at mind become completely different when I am drawing it and much more different when I crochet or sew them.

I am working by my own. I don't have any boss or costumers that tell me what to do or give me a dead lines.
It’s almost one year and I already know that most of creations find someone that love them and want them.
I don’t have any system, I guess if I would develop one I will lose the interest in my dolls.
It's all completely different way of work from what I studied at fashion school or how I was educated.

Meanwhile when I type my thoughts the new doll is growing up behind of my back.

*(this weekend 4-5/11/2006 my etsy store as all of the etsy site will be off line, you can mail me for buying-
