Back from the cats island

Posted by bayan

When I was six years old I received a book called "To the cats island that in Greece"
I was fascinated by the stories about these peaceful places. As far as I can remember there is nothing really happening in this book: the cats are enjoying the sun, the sea is beautiful, the little boats are anchoring at little ports, if they feel like they would sail to another island. Sometimes a bigger boat would appear, and if it's evening the sun would sunrise.
It was illustrated with beautiful and gentle watercolors, and became one of my favorites books.
For my 30th birthday (that was last June) Gal gave me the best present I have ever got. It took three and a half months and it was worth waiting for.
Yesterday we just came back after 8 days in Greece.
We were staying two days at Athens and all the rest at the cats Island that called Sifnos.
It was just the same as the watercolors at the book were look like but in a real version.

And us after few too sunny days.

socks face

I had a day off from the shoes sewing today so I got back to this couple, I began stitching-sculpting the faces.
First I stitched some kind of elliptic sheet of old white sock on the doll's face, and stuffed it with Acrylic so I got some 3d shape.
In this upper sheet I cut two holes for eyes.

I took a marble and warped it with some piece I cut from one of the most crumbled part of the sock.

Then I put it inside the holes and sew it with the hole's margins.

I stitched the nose.

I made the mouth the same way as the eyes.

Another girl joined, and now they are both waiting for some new manipulations in their socks being.

The slippers are now listed at my store, with three other colors combinations.
Besides the shoes, slipper and bags, this new socks couple is being stitched.........

Ordinary

Just another ordinary day, with my stuff,
my accessories collection was growing up, some of the stuff were waiting so long to be sewn, so I quite happy and relieved to see them done

The crochet lady like the "thoughts catcher" notepad the most.
(she probably had a lot to write down)

Today I made my Mary Jane in a new skimmers version, it is listed at my store.

thoughts catcher

Yesterday I listed this notepad at my store.
It is handbounded and covered with a cotton wrap with a folded flower and place to keep a pencil, which is always lost when needed at lest at my mess.
I called it a thoughts catcher.

I took a little break from the dolls making to create some accessories, you were probably noticed by reading my last posts. It's fun making these stuff, I use the same fabrics and same techniques I use for my dolls, and as you read at the last post it's use as a wonderful playground to my dolls. For me it’s the same, I don't have the stress I got each time when I am about to finish some doll, that have almost all her details but yet don't have the uncertain something that make me feel she have some personality.
As the summer is going to end soon I probably be back to the dolls business soon.
